We’re not on the schedule we originally planned, and this issue is being released a little later than we expected, but we’re here now. We are amidst a pandemic and witnessing arguably one of the largest civil rights movements in history, so our focus on the empowerment of Asian women and the discussion surrounding such seems only fitting.

The empowerment and autonomy of women is vital. Empowerment manifests as different things for different people. In the context of women, and Asian women specifically, it has been an area of increased interest as of late.

So, as we consider empowerment, and seek to understand what its meaning to individuals is, we challenge the world around us, the preconceived notions to which we are subjected and how our discourses are altered accordingly. We shed new light on the concept as we contemplate how we approach the word in respect to different artists and creatives, as well as different countries.

The third issue of THE WOW is our biggest issue so far, with 180+ pages content and three covers. One of the cover stories is a CHANEL X SOO JOO PARK shoot by PETER ASH LEE and an interview with the mononymous model about what empowerment means to her and how her outlook and career has been affected by it. We converse with women around the world, each of whom bring their own unique perspective and narrative on their personal sources of empowerment, whether it be motherhood, activism or their art.

We hope this issue speaks to you, inspires you and most importantly, empowers you.
